In 1947, his sonRichard combined the newspaper businesses and formed East Midlands Allied Press (Emap)... The Battle for Market Share Traditionally, the public funded BBC has superceded the commercial radio stations in terms of listening hours. In the third quarter of 2004, BBC recorded its highest market share with 54.6% compared with the 43.5% of all the commercial stations. However, Emap overtook BBC in the digital radio segment.
